Zagreb, Croatia (SportsNetwork.com) – Seeds Mikhail Youzhny and Viktor
Troicki were among Tuesday’s opening-round winners at the Zagreb Indoors
tennis event.
The sixth-seeded Russian veteran Youzhny held off Slovenian Blaz Kavcic 6-3,
1-6, 6-4, while the seventh-seeded Serbian and recent Sydney titlist Troicki
came back to sneak past Ukrainian qualifier Illya Marchenko 4-6, 7-6 (7-3),
7-6 (7-3) at Dom Sportova. Youzhny captured this Zagreb tournament in 2012.
Also on Day 2, Bosnia’s Damir Dzumhur grounded German qualifier Michael Berrer
6-2, 0-6, 7-5 and Japan’s Go Soeda got past German qualifier Matthias
Bachinger 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. Berrer was the back-to-back runner-up at this event
in 2010 and 2011.
This week’s top seeds are towering Croatian favorite Ivo Karlovic and
Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.
The 2015 Zagreb champion will collect $90,000.
