He wasn’t playing for the national championship this time, but Jameis Winston came through in another pressure situation for the Florida State Seminoles.
Winston, who won the the Heisman Trophy on the gridiron this past season, also plays baseball for the Seminoles. On Saturay, coach Mike Martin brought him in to pitch in the eighth inning vs. Niagara with two on, no one outs and the go-ahead run at the plate, the Tallahassee Democrat reports .

“I wanted to see how he would react in a game of this magnitude,” Martin said, tongue firmly in cheek.
The righthander recorded six straight outs and picked up the save as FSU won, 4-1. It was Winston’s first action on the mound in the young season, although he did pinch hit and play an inning in left field Friday .
“It’s just a fun situation for us,” Winston said. “We’re the Seminoles, and we like situations like that. … When you’re a reliever, you’ve got to have that mentality. Just be relentless and don’t fear anything.”
Even the opposing team was excited to see the Heisman winner on the diamond.
“It’s a pretty neat experience,” Niagara coach Rob McCoy said. “You watch the kid, you watch him do his thing out here, and you completely understand. He doesn’t have a pulse — it’s like he has ice in his veins. He made that bunt play — I’ve seen that play get thrown into left field a million times.
