Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – After falling in the first set, two-time
defending champion Kei Nishikori came back to beat Sam Querrey 5-7, 7-6 (7-5),
7-6 (7-5) and advance to the Memphis Open final.
South African Kevin Anderson came back to defeat American Donald Young in the
first semifinal 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Anderson, the No. 2 seed, lost his first set of the tournament but was able
to handle Young in the next two in a bid to win his first singles tournament
since 2012.
It will be the first meeting between Nishikori and Anderson. The champion will
earn $106,565.
It was the first time since 1979 each semifinal went three sets.
