Murray, Berdych reach Rotterdam quarters

Rotterdam, The Netherlands ( – Top-seeded former champion
Andy Murray and third-seeded reigning titlist Tomas Berdych secured spots in
the quarterfinals at the $1.825 million ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.

The 2009 Rotterdam winner Murray handled Canadian Vasek Pospisil 6-3, 7-5,
while Berdych held off last week’s Zagreb runner-up Andreas Seppi 6-0, 3-6,
6-3 at Ahoy Rotterdam.

Murray won the final four games of the match to hold off the 24-year-old

“My level was good. I moved well and I felt like when I really needed to, I
was able to improve my level and step my game up a bit,” said Murray. “I found
a little bit of extra intensity in the important moments and that was key.”

Last month’s Australian Open runner-up Murray’s quarterfinal opponent on
Friday will be eighth-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon, who took care of fellow
countryman Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 6-3.

Berdych beat reigning U.S. Open champ Marin Cilic in last year’s Rotterdam

The 2015 Rotterdam champ will earn $405,000.
