Mauresmo gets the call to the Hall

Newport, RI (SportsNetwork.com) – Former world No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam
champion Amelie Mauresmo has been elected to the International Tennis Hall of
Fame.

Mauresmo captured Australian Open and Wimbledon titles in 2006 and was ranked
No. 1 for 39 weeks during her career. She became the first Frenchwoman to
reach the top of the rankings since they were introduced in the 1970s.

The 35-year-old Mauresmo went 25-23 in her career WTA finals, including a
runner-up finish at the 1999 Aussie Open.

She currently serves as the coach for world No. 4 men’s star, Andy Murray.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held July 18 in Newport, Rhode
Island.
