Madrid Muddies French Open Waters

Madrid was not the stable factor that the top women’s players had hoped it would be.  In the very first round, we saw upsets of two of the hopefuls to take up Serena’s mantle.  Whom did they lose to and what will be the ripple affect for the French Open?  Read on to find out what Apex Tennis Betting has on cap in this article.

Halep Dismissed

Failure to capture an easy set point has been know to cause disaster.  Simona had two of them in the first set, let them go, and eventually lost the tie breaker.  Cornet finished the job 6-3 in the second to bounce the second rated player in the world.  A first round exit was not what this hopeful had in mind.  While the french woman can take out top players, Cornet does not possess the power game to blast Halep off the court.  If she is losing to this type of player then her French Open run might be very limited.

Eugenie’s Nemesis

Who is Barbora Strycova and why does she strike fear into Bouchard?  Maybe because she has lost six straight times to the Czech player.  Eugenie’s slump is coming at the wrong time as she has a ton of points to defend in the next two slams.  Even a slight dip in production from last year will see her slip out of the top ten.  She has given no indication that she is going to right the ship anytime soon.

Finally two players that we are overly high on are going in different directions.  Kerber has it all but can not put together any lengthy streaks.  Meanwhile, Caroline gets on rolls but falters in the majors.  Both are living up to their reputations in Madrid.  Will Wozniacki break our hearts once again?  Stay tuned next week to Apex Tennis as our French Open preview rolls out for our readers.
