Pattaya City, Thailand (SportsNetwork.com) – Two-time champion Daniela
Hantuchova beat China’s Duan Ying-Ying 6-3, 6-0 on Friday to reach the
semifinals at the Thailand Open.
The Slovakian, who won this tournament in 2011 and 2012, will next play
Marina Erakovic of New Zealand. Erakovic recovered from dropping the first set
to defeat Russian wild card Vera Zvonareva 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.
Zvonareva captured the Thailand Open title in 2009 and 2010.
Also, seventh-seeded Monica Puig of Puerto Rico advanced with a 6-4, 6-2
victory over Japan’s Misaki Doi. Puig’s semifinal opponent will be Croatia’s
Ajla Tomljanovic, who beat Russian Evgeniya Rodina 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 on Day 5.
The 2015 Thailand Open titlist will claim $43,000.
