straight-set first-round winner Monday at the Delray Beach Open tennis event.
The Ukrainian handled Russia’s Teymuraz Gabashvili 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 on the
hardcourts at Delray Beach Tennis Center.
Another Day 1 result saw American wild card Denis Kudla down Slovak Lukas
Lacko 6-3, 6-4.
This week’s top seeds are South African Kevin Anderson and towering American
John Isner. The 2012 champion Anderson was last year’s Delray runner-up to
U.S. Open titlist Marin Cilic.
The 2015 Delray champion will earn $84,250.
