Bryans sent packing Down Under

Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) – Six-time Australian Open doubles
champions Bob and Mike Bryan were third-round upset victims on Monday.

A 14th-seeded tandem of Brit Dominic Inglot and Romanian Florin Mergea stunned
the world No. 1 twin Bryans in 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 fashion in just over an hour at
Melbourne Park. The reigning U.S. Open champion Bryans also fell in the third
round here a year ago.

It’s also the first time the Bryan brothers have made consecutive pre-
quarterfinal exits at a Grand Slam event since Roland Garros in 2000 and 2001.

The 36-year-old Bryans own a Grand Slam-record 16 men’s doubles titles.
